3:55pm. My reminder goes off. I put away some last-minute things, grab my water bottle and jacket, and head for the time clock. This day has been a breeze, and I humbly welcome and appreciate it. I tap the small unresponsive screen, enter my credentials, and head for the door.
Cold, crisp San Francisco air and plenty of daylight left, so I decide to take a route I usually don’t, just because it’s the spontaneous thing to do. I’m very happy I did choose to walk this way. I found myself coming across a tucked-away computer store I’d never heard of or seen before.
I went in, and my face lit up with joy. My eyes darted all over, looking over all the offerings, and there was plenty: monitors, GPUs, CPUs, motherboards, and coolers. You name it, it was there. I couldn’t believe it. How’d I not know about this place?
I walked around testing demo hardware and comparing monitors and keyboards. I felt like a child in a candy store, a feeling I haven’t allowed myself to feel in quite some time. I scoped out some additional pieces I need for my setup, got some pricing, and scurried out the door. Wow, I can’t believe this great place is right in my backyard.
Continuing on, I remember, “This buying out the last two days I did this week is not something I want to carry into next week,” so I make a route change and head into my local Target, grab meal prep containers, and I beeline straight to the checkout. In and out — that’s the way I like to shop. I usually shop with a list; that makes things that much easier.
Out of the store, I walk down to my main bus line and head home. In my ears, Brian Tracy is presenting “The Phoenix Seminar.” What a treat! Mr. Tracy is definitely on the top of my list of favorite teachers. I really adore him.
Five minutes later, the bus arrives. I jump on and find a seat. Listening to the seminar, I notice something: everyone is in their own world, watching or listening to what they find interesting at that moment. I thought about the days when anxiety would bother me to the point I couldn’t stand still. Now I can see no one even pays me attention, and it was just me overthinking and overreacting.
I’m glad those days are behind me because now I sit relaxed, breathe, and enjoy my life. I have learned that with almost everything in life, you need to better manage, and I have become better.
Making it home, I feel good about my walk and the finding of a new store, and now it’s time to sit in quietness, decompress, wash off the day, and get ready to prepare dinner. I am proud of myself for keeping my word, and I thank all that come across my entries, as it holds me accountable.
I won’t miss a day. This is day 7 of 30. I will get there… I continue to write.
