The sound of light rain gently enters my ears. It’s 5am. I give thanks for waking me up.
I stretch, look over my logs in Notion, and start up Push Day. This is week four, Day 13: 4 rounds — goblet squats, pushups, elevated pushups, overhead press, and finally a set of close pushups.
One round down and my body is already sweating good. By round 2, I’m pouring in sweat but feel great. On my 120-second break, I tell myself: “You signed up for this.” I push on.
Round 3 is tougher. My arms, shoulders, and back — tight and pumped. I contemplate giving in on the set but again push through. “I didn’t wake up at 5am to sweat and half-ass my work.” I dig in and press through.
Last round and I’m drenched. My arms, chest, and shoulders hate me, but I talk myself through every last set and rep, moving from exercise to exercise.
Done.
I wipe my face and upper body with my shirt, absorbing a ridiculous amount of sweat. I pose, stretch, and let myself know: “I knew you could do it.” When the going gets tough, I get going and knock out all challenges.
I head to the shower. Before darting away, I glance out my window. The dark city doesn’t know I’m building in the dark. I smile and head for the shower.
About this time, showers always feel great. Many thoughts pass through my mind. Some I don’t want — I dismiss and get into my daily mantra to focus my thoughts and center.
One of my favorites: “I believe something wonderful is going to happen to me today.” I repeat. I smile. I feel and know something will.
6:15am. I’m out the shower and I’m starving. I decide to go with 4 organic brown eggs, scrambled, and some leftover steak, thyme, and rosemary mushrooms I had prepared Saturday. I combine the bowls, say my grace, and dig in.
The light and fluffy eggs mixed with thyme and steak is one of my best moves yet for a high-protein breakfast. I love it. This will definitely be making future menus for breakfast options.
6:45am. I’m finishing my routines, and by 7:15am I’m out the door. I’ve gained some speed. I look over my schedule quickly and see I’m in walking distance of my destination. I’m there by 7:30am.
Work goes well. And I wasn’t expecting it, but I receive a notification saying my package has been delivered. I check it and it’s the one main piece I thought wouldn’t see till Wednesday.
I’m more than excited. I am thankful and happy.
I haven’t had a bed in almost a year. And today I do.
I am more than happy. I am more than grateful. Something wonderful happened today. Even though so simple as coming a few days early, it has made my day. It has made my week.
I will now sleep well from here on out going into the new year. I can’t say it enough — everything is working out for me. Every day and in every way, I am feeling better and better.
I am really proud of myself. Proud of my change. I am responsible and I do.
