Day 5 — Slow Motion Is Better Than No Motion

Controlled movement, steady work, and another day of moving forward.

Warm morning sunlight through window blinds casts striped shadows across a cream-colored wall and rumpled bedding.

Monday.

I sit up in bed and take in the sun’s beams coming through the blinds. Warm and magical when you think about it.

I give thanks for much each and every morning.

I stretch and jump in the shower. Dove shea butter and vanilla is a pampering experience and smells, well, amazing.

I’m going to make it to the gym a bit earlier than usual.

Before leaving, I mix my shaker bottle with creatine and water, pack my bag, slip on my gym shoes, and I’m out the door.

The hustle and busyness of the city is on full display. Blue collar, white collar, and all in between.

I make my way down the busy streets, music in my ears, thinking to myself, Today’s going to be a great workout.

I badge in, make my way upstairs, grab a mat, and start my stretching routine.

An exaggerated lean back to stretch the back and core. A few bird dogs. Arms, legs, neck.

It’s time to get started.

Today is my PERFORMANCE | CONTROL session, which consists of kettlebell deadlifts, glute bridges, rows, rear delts, and dips.

It feels good to be in the gym. Not only that, but to move again without pain.

With today being a control day, all movements are done with special attention to form and speed.

Slow, controlled movements. Mind-muscle connection. Challenging but controlled movements and weight selection.

I was in the zone today.

40 minutes, and I’m done.

I even hit a PR on rows. I wasn’t trying. They come with the discipline.

I walk out feeling refreshed and accomplished.

Oh, and a great pump (smiles).

I figure I’ll pick up Mediterranean food. Rice, grilled chicken, vegetables, hummus, and pita. You can’t go wrong.

I sit waiting for my food, reading over my plans for the work I need to do later.

I get home, pull up my main project, and get to work.

Small decisions, but they will yield big results for product truth and my record keeping.

And just so you guys aren’t in the dark, I’m developing a coach OS.

It’s been a challenge, but at the same time, I love it.

It means so much to see all the choices you want in an app become manifested.

While I wrap up the last few phases, I open another window and start pondering today and what I will write.

Landing on what you’re reading right now.

A few things that have kept my changes intact, I must say, are prayer, consistency, faith, trust, and action.

Yes, there is more, but if you get these few down, combined with what you’re doing—or not doing—I would like to think you can be in a great place.

And one of the keys to being in any kind of place is how you feel, how you think.

Stay true to you.

And as usual, thank you for reading.

I will see you soon.
