Day 6 — Recovery Is Another Discipline

Rest before your body has to make the decision for you.

Pale pink trainers and a green kettlebell on a sunlit wooden deck beside leafy shrubs.

Here we are on Day 6.

I’ve been thinking about how much this challenge means to me and also how it keeps me in check. Accountable.

As one of many commitments, it’s good to have things you enjoy tied to a routine, and this just so happens to tie in nicely.

Between development, training, planning, writing, and work, I have my time split where I’m needed, but I also take time for recovery and self-love.

Recovery is another discipline I’ve learned through life experiences and some setbacks.

The most important takeaway I can give, in my opinion, is to make your decided deload or recovery period a priority.

Don’t take it when you’re at your lowest point, where you can’t do anything and you’re only resting because your body is demanding it.

Take it after a number of weeks of challenging tasks—or better yet, when your body signals that it’s time.

Don’t feel a way about rest.

You have to take care of yourself.

This is where I had a stubborn outlook. Because of my ambitious and resilient nature, I used to always push it to the limit.

That’s not healthy, and for the most part, it’s not needed.

We all have things we have to do and need to do, but don’t forget about You.

What brings You happiness and joy?

Balance. Wellness.

Take a walk. Draw. Visit friends.

No matter what it is, always give You some time.

Thank you for stopping by today, hearing my thoughts and opinions.

I will see you soon.
