October 15th.
Today was a really great day.
Work seemed to fly by. Good conversations with colleagues.
I tried a new food spot on a whim. Teriyaki chicken and rice, with a side of super thinly sliced pickled ginger.
And at a decent price!
It was so good I ended up picking up two to-go orders to have for dinner over the next few days (smiles).
Heading home, I took a scenic route and really just took in my surroundings.
The many hills and sideways homes.
Walking, I could hear kids playing and laughing.
Out of nowhere, I hear a woman’s voice:
“Hey, give me your legs!”
I turn, smiling, and say, “You’ll get used to it. Your legs will be strong in no time.”
I can see her husband a great deal behind.
We go back and forth for a while. Before I know it, I’m at my corner.
Before turning, I look back and wish her a good day.
I make it home, to my surprise, 10 minutes earlier than normal.
I unwind until 5:30 p.m. and leave out for the gym.
Chest, back, and shoulders today.
I get in, and it’s a full house.
I finish up chest and back and get ready for shoulders.
Before I can rerack my dumbbells, a young man taps me and says:
“Man, you are huge!”
With my headphones in, all I can see are moving lips.
I slip out an earbud and say, “Huh?”
“I was just saying you’re huge. I mean, you’re a big dude.”
I smile and say, “You think so?”
“Yeah, I think anyone who sees you would say the same.”
I thank him and compliment him also. He wasn’t a large guy, but he was very solid. Lean. Built.
We exchange names and shake hands.
As I’m walking to the back extension apparatus, I can’t help but think:
Why can’t I see myself how people perceive me?
Now, I’m not saying I don’t know I’m a big guy, but if you could see how people look at me in the gym, and when I talk to people here and there, it’s like I’m not registering my appearance.
I finish up the rest of back, check my logs, and hit the door.
It’s late, so I grab something for dinner on the way home.
I’ve completed my day, and as you probably know, I’m now writing and eating, preparing to call it a night.
What a day.
I’m thankful for strength, faith, and peace of mind.
Thank you for following along and reading daily. I really do appreciate it.
Sow deliberately. Accept uncertainty. Face the harvest. Then sow again.
